Bioinformatics Expert

Position: Bioinformatics Expert

Type: Hourly Contract

Compensation: $90–$110/hour

Location: Remote

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking experienced bioinformatics professionals to create scientific data-analysis tasks for AI model training. You’ll work with real biological datasets, develop reproducible computational analyses, and evaluate results to ensure scientific accuracy and clear interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

\n
• Complete realistic, multi-step bioinformatics data-analysis tasks .
\n
• Create original scientific questions with exact, objectively verifiable answers.
\n
• Select and anonymize datasets from public repositories or eligible private research data.
\n
• Use scientific software, code, and command-line tools to produce reproducible analyses.
\n
• Develop Jupyter validation notebooks in Python or R to reproduce correct answers.
\n
• Interpret findings in biological or translational contexts, documenting assumptions, uncertainty, and conclusions.
\n
• Deliver structured outputs and clear scientific explanations.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n
• Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent research experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Statistical Genetics, Quantitative Biology , or a related field.
\n
• Hands-on experience analyzing sequencing and omics data, such as RNA-seq, WGS/WES, variant calling, metagenomics, or proteomics.
\n
• Familiarity with tools such as samtools, bcftools, bedtools, BWA, Bowtie2, or BLAST .
\n
• Programming experience with Python (pandas, Biopython, pysam) or R/Bioconductor (DESeq2, edgeR, limma, GenomicRanges).
\n
• Ability to create and run Jupyter notebooks that reproduce analytical results.
\n
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Access to unpublished or private datasets that you have permission to share.
\n
• Specialized expertise in a niche area, such as non-model organisms, unusual assays, or advanced genomic interpretation.
\n
• Experience designing reproducible computational workflows and validating scientific results.
\n

Compensation

• $90–$110 per hour .
\n
• Remote hourly contract.
\n
• Flexible work involving scientific analysis and AI training data development.
\n
